About Beth Short, PMHNP-BC
Beth Short is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
(PMHNP) with over a decade of experience treating adults with Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia and Substance abuse.
She has worked in a variety of settings including Community Mental Health, Private Practice, Assertive Community Treatment Team ( ACTT), Crisis stabilization.
She received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia, Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida.
She is a native of Roanoke Virginia , currently resides with her husband and numerous pets in Bedford, Virginia.
Treatment & Approach
Beth is calm, empathetic and non-judgmental in her approach with her patients. She performs diagnostic assessments, medication management and brief therapy.
She provides patient centered goals that are discussed at the patients first visit.

Beth treats multiple mental health disorders in adults.
Beth provides 1-hr new patient evaluations. During this time, she will provide the psychiatric evaluation, provide diagnoses, and prescribe medications if required.
Psychiatric Evaluation
Depression is a common mental health disorder that effects approximately 3 million people in the US yearly. It causes a mood depressed mood or a persistent loss of interest in activities causing significant impairment in activities of daily life.
There are five categories of mood disorders. The symptoms of a mood disorder can include feelings of hopelessness or helplessness, trouble sleeping, appetite changes, concentration issues, low energy levels, low self-esteem, and difficulty making decisions.
